For the last few weeks, the weather has been good for clearing the snow from the Routeburn Track.
There will still be snow and ice around the Harris Saddle.
For the last few years, there have been heavy snow falls in spring which have taken a while to clear and created high avalanche risk.
Normally, the high avalanche risk ends around the middle of November.
The track will open at the end of this month and barring heavy snow, will have a great start for the season.
Always dress well as the temperatures can drop very quickly.
Last year, we had 15 snow falls during summer.
